About the Teacher
Rāma-kiṅkarī Devī Dāsī, who has a long-standing association with ISKCON Seattle and is currently connected with ISKCON Sydney West, has a deep-rooted connection to the Valmiki Ramayana (VR). Her grandfather, who learned VR from Vaishnava Acaryas, passed down this sacred epic to her through her mother. For several years now, during the mid-July to August period, she dedicates herself to reading 20 chapters of VR daily. Encouraged by her friends in ISKCON Seattle, Rāma-kiṅkarī Mataji began conducting VR reading sessions. Subsequently, she relocated to India, got married, and moved to Australia. Her enthusiasm for sharing the teachings of VR has only grown stronger, particularly after the birth of her son, who displays a keen interest in learning VR and attentively listens during her classes. Her husband, although new to ISKCON, is supportive and understanding of the significance of VR in her life.
Now, Rāma-kiṅkarī Mataji is eager to share her knowledge with others, emphasizing that VR is a treasure trove written by a Bhakta from the proper disciplic succession. Sage Valmiki's close association with King Dasaratha and his participation in the Lord's pastimes make VR all the more profound. She points out that every verse of VR has the power to eradicate sin, and each chapter is an ocean of nectar. While there are numerous benefits for ancestors, husbands, children, and more, she stresses that the primary reason for reading VR should be to please Lord Rama and Sita Ma, as when They are pleased, everything else falls into place. Rāma-kiṅkarī Mataji humbly requests everyone to listen attentively to her classes, go through the questions, and understand the importance of every concept. She expresses her gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of their VR journey and encourages all to pray to Mother Sita and the Acaryas, seeking their guidance to reach the lotus feet of Lord Rama.
